JAKARTA – Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) officially opened the trading session in 2024 yesterday (2/1), witnessed by Vice President of Indonesia, Ma’ruf Amin.

According to IDX release yesterday (2/1), at the end of yesterday’s trading session, BEI broke its own record in Jakarta Composite Index, which arrived at 7,323.59. It surpassed the previous record of 7,318.02 seen on September 13, 2022.

Not only that, the market capitalisation of IDX also peaked yesterday (2/1), reaching IDR 11,768 trillion and surpassing the market cap recorded at the end of last year of IDR 11,762 trillion on December 28, 2023.

“It reflects optimism of the players and stakeholders in Indonesia’s capital market in starting the year 2024,” said the management of BEI in the press release.

Welcoming 2024, IDX also set some targets in capital market activities. They include the increase of trading liquidity to IDR 12.25 trillion, new issuer recorded of 230 issuers, and 2 million additional investors. (ZH)
