JAKARTA. The Indonesian government has approved 14 new National Strategic Projects (PSN), through an internal meeting chaired by President Joko Widodo and attended by his cabinet last week.

All of the new PSNs that have been approved are said to be funded by private investors and not from the state budget or APBN.

The locations of the 14 PSN are in a number of regions, ranging from Riau Islands, Banten, DKI Jakarta, West Java, East Java, East Kalimantan, Central Sulawesi, to Southeast Sulawesi. Based on category, all PSNs are divided into 8 industrial estates, 2 tourism areas, 2 toll roads, 1 offshore oil and gas project, and 1 education and research area.

According to idnfinancials.com data, 2 of these PSNs are located in the PIK (Pantai Indah Kapuk) 2 and BSD (Bumi Serpong Damai) areas.

The PSN located in PIK 2 is the development of a Green Area and Eco-City, on an area of 1,756 hectares. This tourist area is designed to accommodate mangrove tourism. The investment to be absorbed by this project is estimated to reach IDR 65 trillion.

Meanwhile, the PSN located in BSD is the development of a Special Economic Zone (SEZ), on an area of 59.6 hectares. This area will be focused on the development of education, health research, digital economy, technology development, to health and biomedical services. The investment to be absorbed by this project is estimated to reach IDR 18.54 trillion. (KR/LM)
