JAKARTA - Ma'ruf Amin, Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia, is optimistic that the presence of the Menara Syariah can create a global scale sharia economic ecosystem. He conveyed this at the opening of the Banten Halal Ramadhan Festival at the Menara Syariah, Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2, Tangerang, Banten, yesterday (2/4).

"Menara Syariah is expected to become a global sharia economic market, with this ecosystem being built in Banten," said Ma'aruf Amin, who is also the Daily Chair of the National Sharia Economic and Financial Committee (KNEKS).

According to him, the presence of the Menara Syariah building, which will be the center of sharia business and education activities, is a manifestation of Indonesia's consistency in economic mix policies.

"This strategy mix is important for sustainable and equitable national development. Because the challenge of development is not just achieving the highest economic growth, but ensuring that the growth achieved is truly able to support society down to the lower levels," he said.

Apart from that, Siti Ma'rifah, Chair of the Regional Sharia Economic and Financial Committee (KDEKS) of Banten Province, said that Banten has great potential for the growth of new industrial areas and special industrial areas based on halal industries in the fields of culinary, fashion, tourism and sharia finance.

"Hopefully the Banten Halal Ramadhan Festival: From Banten to the World will be a successful first step in advancing the halal industry in Indonesia. We hope that activities like this can be carried out regularly and continuously," she said.

Previously, Harianto Solichin, Commissioner of Menara Syariah, stated that he would collaborate with various parties in an effort to optimize business, financial and sharia education activities at Menara Syariah. In the future, the building will become a forum for creating a sharia economic ecosystem on a national and international scale.

As an example, PT Fin Centerindo Satu (FCS), as the manager of Menara Syariah, will collaborate with five universities in Malaysia and three universities in Brunei Darussalam and around 20 more national universities to open education related to sharia economics. Its party will sign a memorandum of understanding with eight universities in the neighboring country at the end of April 2024 (LK/LM)
