JAKARTA – Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) opened in positive territory during the first trading session on Tuesday (15/4), rising to the green zone as of 9.35 AM WIB. The influence of the US–China tariff war, which had weighed heavily on the market last week, appeared to be waning.

As of the morning observation, JCI had strengthened by 1.85% to 6,486.16. The index opened at 6,368.42 at 9 AM WIB, reached an intraday high of 6,485.86, and touched a low of 6,406.32.

Several large-cap banking and telecommunications stocks supported the index’s upward momentum. For instance, shares of PT Bank Central Asia Tbk (BBCA) rose by 2.08% to IDR 8,575, PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) increased 1.09% to IDR 3,760, PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) Tbk (BMRI) gained 0.63% to IDR 4,780, and PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (TLKM) climbed 0.82% to IDR 2,450 per share.

However, shares of PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBNI) dropped 4.62% to IDR 4,340 per share.

JCI’s rise in early trading was also in line with gains in other indices. The LQ45 advanced 0.85% to 730.183, IDX30 rose 0.75%, IDX80 gained 0.80% to 105.833, and the IDXESGL edged up 0.53% to 138.016 points. (LK/ZH)
