ATTEC: Indonesia has potential to attract wave of investment
JAKARTA – The Asian Trade, Tourism and Economic Council (ATTEC) is optimistic that Indonesia can attract a wave of foreign investment at this time. This was stated by ATTEC Chairman Budihardjo Iduansjah at the Indonesia Investment Summit: Projects for Sustainable Growth in Jakarta on Monday (April 15).
“We in Indonesia have a very strong position, Mr. Minister of Trade. That’s why today we have Syno Capital Singapore bringing 100 investors. I also see representatives from China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Malaysia,” he said.
According to him, Indonesia’s appeal includes a large market, policy stability, strategic geographic location, and economic growth.
He also highlighted major investment opportunities in the manufacturing sector, which Chinese investors could consider as a new production base. “This momentum is not just for construction or financial investors but also for those with factories in Indonesia-Russia.”
Budihardjo had a direct discussion with Trade Minister Budi Santoso about the relocation of factories from China to Indonesia, which could be a strategic solution to build collaboration between foreign factories and small-medium industries (IKM) in Indonesia.
Additionally, Budihardjo emphasized the importance of foreign factory involvement in meeting Local Content Requirements (TKDN) to enter the government procurement supply chain. “This is the right supply chain. The ecosystem is already in place, and the government procurement policy agency is opening its doors to investors establishing TKDN-compliant factories in Indonesia,” he said.
He invited global investors to invest in Indonesia, including building factories. “We encourage investors to set up factories in Indonesia, meet TKDN requirements, and enter the government supply chain,” he stated. (LK/LM)
