Tolaram increases stake in Amar Bank

JAKARTA – Tolaram Pte Ltd, based in the British Virgin Islands, has increased its stake in PT Bank Amar Indonesia Tbk (AMAR) by 4.3% following a transaction on Thursday (8 May) last week.
Elsa Enda Dwita Purba, AMAR’s Corporate Secretary, stated that Tolaram acquired 790.23 million shares at a price of Rp171 per share. "This is a direct shareholding for investment purposes," she said in a public disclosure on Tuesday (13 May).
The total value of the share purchase is estimated at Rp135.12 billion. Following the transaction, AMAR’s controlling stake increased to 75.25% (13.83 million shares), up from 70.95% (13.04 million shares).
As of April 2025, AMAR recorded a total of 18.38 billion shares, with controlling ownership at 70.95% and non-controlling ownership at 29.04%. The bank has 5,929 shareholders, with The Tolaram Family Trust listed as the ultimate beneficiary of the shareholding.
AMAR reported total equity of Rp3.4 trillion, alongside undistributed retained earnings of Rp212.13 billion in Q1 2025.
Meanwhile, AMAR’s share price rose by 1.74% to Rp175 at the close of trading on Friday (9 May). Over the past month, its stock price has gained 6.71%. (LK/LM)
