Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr.: BIMP-EAGA must become more integrated

JAKARTA – Philippine President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. reaffirmed the shared vision of the Brunei Darussalam–Indonesia–Malaysia–Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA). He delivered the remarks in his capacity as chair of the 16th BIMP-EAGA Summit in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (27/5).
“I am confident that through this cooperation, we can turn our aspirations into lasting impact for our people,” he said in a press release issued by the Presidential Secretariat’s Press, Media and Information Bureau.
According to him, greater synergy, innovation, and political will are needed to realise the shared vision of a more integrated, resilient, and prosperous BIMP-EAGA.
President Marcos highlighted the achievements made since 2017, which have delivered tangible benefits for citizens.
“Our joint initiatives in connectivity, trade and investment facilitation, food and energy security, ecotourism, and green development have advanced significantly. These efforts reinforce our commitment to narrowing the development gap in our sub-region,” he said.
President Prabowo Subianto of Indonesia was also present on the third day of the 16th BIMP-EAGA Summit. (LK/ZH)
