JAKARTA – PT TBS Energi Tbk (TOBA) is confident it can reduce its carbon emissions by up to 80% following the completion of its divestment of two power plant assets in North Minahasa and Gorontalo.

Juli Oktarina, Director of TOBA, announced the company has finalised the divestment of two coal-fired power plants (PLTU) located in North Minahasa and Gorontalo.

"At present, the divestment of one more PLTU asset in Gorontalo has been completed," she stated in a press release, quoted on Wednesday (28/5).

Previously, TOBA had completed the divestment of a 100 MW PLTU asset in North Minahasa, which enabled a carbon emission reduction of over 45%, or approximately 777,000 tonnes of CO2e per year.

According to her, the divestment of both assets will contribute to a total reduction in TBS’s carbon emissions by 80%, equivalent to around 1.3 million tonnes of CO2e per year.

In addition, the company will continue to strengthen its green business foundation and explore growth opportunities in waste management solutions, electric mobility, and renewable energy.

"TBS continues its transformation agenda with discipline and optimism. We view this quarter as an important part of TBS’s journey to build a more sustainable business model," she said. (LK/ZH)
