Elon Musk resigns from Trump’s administration

WASHINGTON – Elon Musk has announced his resignation from President Donald Trump’s administration after serving in the Department of Government Efficiency, known by its acronym DOGE.
“As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President @realDonaldTrump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending,” Musk wrote on X.
“The @DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.,” he added.
The White House, as quoted by the BBC, will begin formal procedures to terminate Musk’s role as a special government employee on Wednesday evening (28/5/2025).
The Tesla electric vehicle mogul was appointed as a special government employee, a designation allowing him to work in federal agencies for up to 130 days per year.
Based on Trump’s inauguration on 20 January 2025, that time limit is expected to be reached by the end of May. (DH/ZH)
