JAKARTA – PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BBRI) has once again reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Government’s Asta Cita programme, particularly in providing public housing through the Housing Credit Programme (KPP).

This initiative forms part of the National Strategic Project (PSN), with an ambitious target of constructing three million homes.

Support for the programme was demonstrated through a Housing Credit Programme outreach event themed “Working Together to Build Homes for the People,” held at the Regale International Convention Centre in Medan.

The event was attended by several prominent figures, including the Minister of Housing and Settlements Maruarar Sirait, Minister of Home Affairs Muhammad Tito Karnavian, Governor of North Sumatra Muhammad Bobby Afif Nasution, and BRI Group CEO Hery Gunardi.

In his address, BBRI President Director Hery Gunardi emphasised the vital role of the housing sector in driving national economic growth.

He explained that BRI, through KPP and the Home Ownership Credit with Housing Finance Liquidity Facility (KPR FLPP), is committed to expanding access to decent and affordable housing finance for the public.

“This subsidised housing programme delivers significant benefits—not only improving public welfare but also stimulating the economy. It’s a strategic step towards the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision,” Hery stated in his press release.

Meanwhile, Minister Maruarar Sirait praised BRI’s active role in supporting the government’s initiative.

“BRI is not just a financial institution—it’s a community partner on the ground. BRI staff provide direct education to the public, including MSME players. This is clear evidence of BRI’s commitment to accelerating public housing provision,” he said.

Minister Tito Karnavian also highlighted the housing sector’s contribution to national economic growth.

“The Three Million Homes Programme contributes around two percent to national GDP. It’s not just about housing—it’s also about employment and strengthening the national property sector,” Tito explained.

BRI has also recorded strong performance in distributing KPR FLPP. As of 7 September 2025, BRI successfully disbursed 25,080 subsidised housing units—100% of the national quota—making it the top FLPP-absorbing bank among all Himbara members.

“This year, BRI’s FLPP quota rose significantly from 17,000 units in 2024 to 25,000 units in 2025, marking a 47% year-on-year increase,” Hery Gunardi noted.

He also stressed the importance of cross-sector collaboration to ensure the success of the programme.

“From Medan, we declare the spirit of national cooperation. This event was attended by over 3,000 participants, including developers, contractors, building material traders, and MSME players. This is key to reducing Indonesia’s housing backlog,” he concluded. (DK/LM)
