Foreign inflows into bank stocks lift JCI 2.14% in first session
JAKARTA – Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) rose 2.14%, or 160.57 points, to 7,660.76 in the first trading session on Tuesday (14/4), supported by foreign capital inflows into banking stocks.
Total stock market turnover on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) reached IDR 13.60 trillion, with 28.66 billion shares traded during the session. A total of 513 stocks advanced, while 131 declined and 173 were unchanged.
Analysts at Phintraco Sekuritas said the formation of a positive histogram in the MACD indicator continued, signalling a constructive trend for JCI, while the stochastic RSI remained in overbought territory.
“We expect JCI to extend its gains towards the 7,675–7,700 range in the second session of trading on Tuesday (14/4),” the analysts said in a note to investors.
Despite the index’s gains, foreign investors recorded net selling of IDR 127.71 billion. In volume terms, foreign investors posted net selling of 40.13 million shares.
