JCI edges up 0.12% despite broad sectoral decline

JAKARTA – The Jakarta Composite Index (JCI) closed Monday (21/4) with a modest gain of 0.12%, or 7.70 points, ending the session at 6,445.97.
JCI opened at 6,438.27 and reached an intraday high of 6,472.54 at around 9.10 AM local time, before dipping to its lowest point of 6,406.80 around 3 PM.
Despite the green closing, most sectoral indices ended the day lower. The energy sector led the declines, falling 0.68%, followed by infrastructure (down 0.57%), non-cyclicals (0.56%), cyclicals (0.29%), financials (0.18%), transportation (0.13%), and property (0.10%).
On the other hand, the technology sector outperformed with a gain of 3.39%. Basic industries rose 1.64%, industrials added 0.43%, and healthcare edged up 0.19%.
A total of 1.47 billion shares were traded across the market today, with a total transaction value of IDR 8.43 trillion. Trading frequency reached 987,810 transactions. (KR/ZH)
